INDUSTRIAL INNOVATION

A major American multi-state utility company wished to investigate the feasibility of converting its extensive fleet of service vehicles from traditional gasoline powered units to propane or other alternative fuels. The company wanted the study to be completed by an outside team of experts to provide maximum objectivity and impartiality. The assignment encompassed an economic and financial study, including geographic market analysis, refueling options, capital and operating  cost assessments, as well as implementation structuring. We applied one senior consultant to the project, aided by two research assistants, and completed the feasibility study in under ninety days at a fraction of the man-hour costs the utility would have had to expend internally.

NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION

A leading French manufacturer in the food industry wished to explore the U.S. market potential for a regional and national rollout of several products lines which enjoyed excellent market share in France. We assigned two senior consultants to the task, formed focus groups and mall intercepts to test market acceptibility of the product, and simultaneously explored distribution alternatives. The study found that the products were too high priced for normal supermarket channels, but had excellent potential in upscale gourmet venues. Management committed the appropriate budget and successfully introduced its product to the American market.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STUDIES

A group of farmers retained our services to devise an economic impact study on crop and timber losses sustained through periodic, non-seasonal recreational flood control practices.
